Pure Infinity: A Seamless Blend of Elegance and Functionality

Bettina Gomez-Latus Redefines Jewelry Design with Her Award-Winning Pendant

The uniqueness of Pure Infinity lies in its clear, flowing border in red gold that runs around the stone without touching it. The gemstone setting and the loop are made of a single wire, creating an infinite line from narrow to wide. The delicate facet of the topaz is incorporated into the setting, creating a never-ending impression. The pendant hangs straight on a chain without tilting back or forth, thanks to its diagonal suspension.

The pendant was realized using a blend of traditional and modern techniques. The topaz was scanned and its setting constructed in CAD. It was then plotted in wax and cast in 18K red gold. The setting was finished at the workbench and the gemstone was set into the setting. This process required careful consideration of how much the gold would move when the gemstone was set and whether the stone would break if tension within the setting got too high.

With dimensions of 32.5 mm in length and 56.5 mm in width, the pendant is made of 18K red gold and features a topaz of 92.14 ct. The pendant can be worn on different precious metal chains or on a leather band. Each side of the pendant has its own exclusive expression, offering the wearer versatility in how they choose to wear it.

The design project started in May 2019 and ended in July 2019, with the pendant being produced in Steinbach, Germany. The main challenge during the development of the pendant was maintaining the required tension in the gold and holding the gemstone without closing the setting entirely.

Pure Infinity has been recognized for its innovative design, winning Silver in the A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2020.
